PANDAYAN LIBRARY ORIENTATION
Welcome to PANDAYAN, the research support service of the CHE Library. Our Three-Level Library Orientation Program is designed to guide you through the library’s services, resources, and tools to support your academic and research needs.
Below are the details of each orientation level:
Level 1: General Library Orientation (SIMULA)
Duration: 30 Hour
This orientation introduces core library services, both physical and digital collections, and provides guidance on navigating the library space through virtual or in-person tours. By detailing library policies, procedures, and personnel roles, this level ensures that users understand how to efficiently access and utilize the library’s offerings. The goal is to create a welcoming environment where students and faculty can easily engage with the library’s resources and services to enhance their research and learning experiences. This early introduction aims to be integrated into the course syllabi, providing freshman students enough information to kickstart and to promote a smoother transition into their college life.
Level 2: Library Instruction Program (SANAYAN)
Duration: 1–1.5 Hours
The Level 2: Library Instruction Program (SANAYAN) is designed to offer targeted and flexible support for faculty and students by focusing on the effective use of local databases, e-journals, and other digital resources within the UP system. This level provides comprehensive training on navigating and utilizing these resources, ensuring that users can efficiently access and leverage the vast amount of information available. The core idea of Level 2 Library Instruction is to offer flexibility for faculty members and students to choose which local and subscribed e-resources they would like to focus on during the program. This selection can be tailored to the specific needs of their courses and subject areas, providing targeted and meaningful support.
Level 3: SURI – A Research Roundtable (Launching Soon)
This level focuses on enhancing professional research publication efforts, providing in-depth assistance from developing research topics to understanding research impact metrics. By offering training in advanced search techniques, citation management, and navigating the complexities of open access and predatory publishing, Level 3 ensures that researchers can produce high-quality work and effectively manage their scholarly profiles. This comprehensive support aligns with the library’s mission to foster excellence in academic research and publication.
